Jakarta Street Blues

Only 6 percent of Jakarta is dedicated to roads, with 178 cars in the province per thousand residents. Compare this with Singapore, which has 12 percent of its area designated for roads and only 100 cars per thousand residents.
Gridlocks, car trouble, jaywalkers, street hawkers and large puddles are routine problems in Jakarta. The vast number of vehichles on the city streets also contributes to the increasingly bad air pollution.
