Mending Broken Wings

In 1989, to support Merpati Nusantara Airlines, the government built the Merpati Maintenance Facility. It was originally based at Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali before being moved to Juanda Airport in Surabaya.
The facility in Surabaya opened on Aug. 1, 1991. It now services aircraft from many airlines, both domestic and international. It is the second-largest airline servicing operation in Indonesia, employing 384 people.
