Bull Throttle

Plowing is rarely entertaining — except once a year in Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, Indonesia, when the “Pacu Jawi” races are held. Jockeys mount narrow sleds harnessed between a pair of cattle, urging the beasts through muddy fields, a tail grasped in either hand. Winning is prestigious, and some jockeys aren’t averse to delivering a few sharp chomps to spur their mounts onward.
