Village in the Clouds

Ngadas village in East Java, about 50 kilometers from Malang, sits 2,200 meters above sea level. About 95 percent of its 1,180 inhabitants make their living as farmers, tending fields that cling to the mountainous terrain.
Temperatures in Ngadas are usually a cool 18 degrees Celsius at night and 22 degrees during the day, though it can sometimes drop to as low as 10 degrees.Residents only get about three hours of sunshine in the morning, before the fog rolls in.
