Heartbreaking Loss

More than 80,000 fans, most of them donning red and white, gathered at Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta on Monday night for the Southeast Asian Games football final between Indonesia and arch-rival Malaysia. The home field advantage and sell-out crowd couldn’t save Indonesia from a 4-3 loss in a game that went to a penalty shoot out.
“My sincere apologies to all of Indonesia’s fans, but this was the very best result we can could achieve today,” coach Rahmad Darmawan said after the game.
